SUSTAINABILITY

OUR VALUES

Le Rú does its best to be as sustainable as possible. Being eco-conscious is a collective effort, which requires all participants, brand houses, suppliers and consumers, to play their role. Here are our sustainability values:

MADE IN ITALY
All of our manufacturers, fabrics and components suppliers are based in Italy. We personally select and visit them on a regular basis to keep a close working relationship. Their employees are treated fairly and respectfully under the Italian law.

FABRICS AND COMPONENTS OF NATURAL ORIGIN
We use materials of natural origin only, like wool and silk, because of their quality, longevity and adaptability to body temperature. They require little water and energy use, and are easier to decompose than petrol-origin fibers and components. Crucially, they do not pollute our oceans with plastic particles.

NO SUPERFLUOUS PACKAGING
le Rú avoids the use of cardboard paper as much as possible. We deliver all of our products in a recycled cardboard box. Even if we know how appealing product packaging is to some of our customers, we opt not to use it, because we know it will have a short life. Instead, we include a suit bag made of 100% recycled cotton, which will have a longer and more useful life, keeping your le Rú items in pristine condition.

TIMELESS AND VERSATILE PIECES
All of our products are designed to be long-lasting, timeless and versatile. Millions of tons of clothing end up in landfills every year. Our everlasting pieces are designed to accompany and enhance the unique personality and style of each woman. We firmly believe women need to be valued more for what they do than their appearance. By doing so, each woman will contribute to safeguarding the environment. For these reasons, we avoid fashion trends and prefer to adopt a slow fashion approach.

PROXIMITY TO SUPPLIERS
Being close to our suppliers is important to us, because our fabrics, components and clothes can be moved from one center to another in a few kms drive and we can visit them daily. This means a lower pollution impact and more control on suppliers.

GARMENT CARE
Coats, blazers and trench coats are not supposed to be washed in a washing machine, because their structure could be compromised. Professional dry-cleaning is needed. However, we suggest bringing them to a cleaner only when necessary and to opt for natural washing products only. Being natural fibers, it is sufficient to leave your le Rú jacket in open air for one night to refresh it.

CUSTOMER ROLE

Also, customers play an important role in the environment. We encourage our customers to:

FACE REALITY
Be honest with themselves and recognize that sustainable fashion is not cheap.

THINK TWICE
Think deeply before buying a new piece of clothing. Most of the discarded clothing ends up in landfills.

BUY LESS AND BETTER
Prefer quality over quantity to favor the longevity of the garment. Wearing a piece of clothing for several years greatly decreases the environmental impact.

ASK FOR ASSISTANCE
Ask for customer care advice when in doubt.

PREFER ECO-FRIENDLY CLEANERS
Prefer professional cleaners who use environment-friendly cleaning products.

SUPPORT BRANDS WHO SAFEGUARD EMPLOYEES
Choose brands and suppliers who safeguard the health and rights of their employees.
